Slippery elm is a foundational ingredient we recommend for making herbal dosage balls with our wormers. and powdered herbal blends, such as Arthritis and Joint Support and Mo'Milk .  Back by popular demand—Slippery Elm Bark Powder returns to Molly’s Herbals in 2026 supporting your animals with trusted, time-tested ingredients.

Sustainably sourced from the inner bark of the Slippery Elm tree (Ulmus rubra), this finely ground powder is naturally rich in mucilage. When moistened, it becomes slick and cohesive; making it an ideal binder for dosage balls while also helping soften the taste of more bitter herbs. Many animals find its subtly sweet, maple-like flavor more palatable, which can improve consistency and acceptance.

Slippery Elm has a long history of traditional use for digestive and throat soothing support, and has been a staple ingredient in the original Molly’s Herbals dosage ball recipe for decades.

About Slippery Elm

Slippery Elm is a deciduous tree native to eastern North America sometimes called Red Elm, Indian Elm, or Moose Elm. Its inner bark contains naturally occurring mucilage that becomes slick when hydrated. Traditionally, this property has made Slippery Elm valued for soothing applications and gentle digestive support.

This powder blends smoothly into herbal recipes and has been used safely across a wide range of animals when incorporated into established feeding practices.
