Molly's Herbals didn't begin as a business plan. It began as a friend answering questions.

In 2002, Molly Nolte was caring for her own animals with herbs, supplements, and formulas she developed herself, as part of the natural, holistic care she believed in. People noticed. They asked what she was using, how she made it, and whether she could make some for them. So she did. She opened her personal formulas to anyone who needed them, so that all animals could have access to the same care she gave her own.

For more than twenty years, Molly ran Molly's Herbals out of her home, on her own. She never advertised. She never needed to. Her customers found her through word of mouth, came back season after season, and told their friends. She kept the business small on purpose so she could handle every part of it herself, and she kept her prices fair on purpose too, because the people ordering from her weren't chasing trends. They were caring for animals they loved and relied on.

How We Came In

We're Laura and David Knight, and we met Molly years before any of this, over a shared love of Mini Coopers.

It started at an event called Minis on the Dragon. In 2010 we joined Molly and her husband, Paul, for MINI Takes the States, a cross-country drive where you really get to know people. We stayed in touch through the years, met up at Michigan MINI gatherings before our son William came along, and followed each other's lives the way good friends do.

Then last year, Molly was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

She shared that she needed to sell Molly's Herbals and didn't know where to start. She wrote that people and their animals depended on her products, and that she didn't want the business to disappear. She wanted it to continue after she was gone. It was, in her words, her legacy.

We read that post with heavy hearts. As we talked it through, we realized we'd been looking for something meaningful to build together, work that mattered and could also support our family. And we loved what Molly had built: simple, carefully made formulas, offered at a fair price to the people and animals who count on them. That isn't something you walk away from.

So in 2025, Molly passed Molly's Herbals to us, and we moved it from Michigan to our home in Ohio.

Why This Feels Like Ours

For Laura, herbs have always felt natural. As a little girl she made "botanical potions" in the backyard from anything she could get her hands on. Now she gets to do that for real, for animals and for the people who love them.

We'll be honest: we don't keep livestock the way Molly does. We've shared our lives with a whole lot of animals, growing up and as adults. Today that's our dogs, Luna and Nimbus, and Sky, a cat with strong opinions about everything. But we didn't take over Molly's Herbals to replace Molly's knowledge. We took it over to protect it. Her formulas are her own creations, and they remain exactly as she made them.

What we bring is care. We believe in keeping animals healthy with herbal support that works alongside your veterinarian and conventional medicine, and we respect the many families who prefer a fully herbal approach. Either way, our job is the same: offer simple, safe products, made with care and quality, that you can trust.

Our First Year

The first year has been a crash course in running a small business: banking, credit card rules, supply chains, website design, social media, and answering your questions as quickly as we can. David runs Molly's Herbals full time. He makes the tinctures, labels every product, ships your orders, and receives the thousands of pounds of herbs that go into our blends. Laura works full time in technology, and in the early mornings, evenings, and every spare moment in between, she's also our customer service, business manager, marketer, and website manager. We do all of it while raising a very active teenager. So if you're juggling animals, work, and family, we understand. We're right there with you.

Some changes have been small but meaningful, like moving to clear, recyclable bags. Others have been about keeping Molly's standards steady as we learn. None of it has changed the heart of the business.

The best part has been meeting you. When a repeat customer's order comes through, it feels like a friend stopping by, and it makes us smile every time. Many of you have ordered from Molly for years, and we don't take it lightly that you've trusted us to carry on.

Care for the Whole Household

The people caring for the animals need care as well.

That's why we’ve kept all formulas human grade and have updated our packaging to include supplement facts recently so you have all the information you need to make decisions for you and your family. Very soon we’re introducing Herbal Essentials, a line of single herb tinctures. They're made the same way as everything else we offer: simple ingredients, thoughtful formulas, and the same care and quality you've come to trust from Molly's Herbals. Whether you're tending a barn full of animals or just keeping up with a busy week, they're our way of caring for you, too.

What Goes Into Every Product

We keep our standards as simple as Molly did:

• We prioritize organically grown and wildcrafted herbs and ingredients. 
• Everything is made in small batches, with no fillers and no synthetic additives.
• Molly's original animal formulas remain exactly as she created them.

We're a small, family-run business, and we intend to stay that way. Staying small means we can stay careful about what goes into every product and about the trust you've placed in us.

Molly built this business on a simple idea, and we plan to keep it that way. Whether you're caring for a herd of goats, a few backyard hens, a dog asleep on your couch, or yourself at the end of a long day, you deserve products that are simple, safe, honest, and fairly priced, from people who care about your family as much as you do.
