Remember that variety is not only the spice of life, but essential to good health. Make sure to vary your pets diet and also make sure they receive their proper daily supplements.

Recipes:

Please note, that since we are vegetarians/vegan, I am sharing a few vegetarian/vegan recipes here. If you are looking for recipes with meat, please see the books recommended above. Our dog is 100% vegan, but our cats are only 1/2 veggie. They get a high quality vegan dry food (from Vegancats.com) and homemade "wet" dishes for breakfast and dinner.

 

Other information:

Lentil / TVP Dinner for Cats

  • 1 1/2 Cups cooked lentils
  • 1 Cup TVP granules reconstituted with 7/8 C. boiling water
  • 1/4 Cup brewers yeast
  • 4 tsp. canola oil
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 4 tsp. Vegecat supplement (available at vegancats.com ) OR some other multivitamin supplement PLUS Taurine supplement. It is essential that you add a Taurine supplement.

Serving amount: Enough to last a 10 pound cat three days.
You will have to adjust to fit the caloric needs of your own cat. See the Daily Caloric Requirements for Adult Cats chart.

Tofu Diet for Cats

  • 1/2 cup tofu, firm
  • 1/4 yolk large, hard-boiled egg
  • 1 T canola or olive oil
  • 1/8 tsp Calcium Powder
  • 1 multi-vitamin/mineral tablet

Calories per serving: 198
20.6 grams protein, 12.3 grams fat.

Serving amount:
